Online Business Scams

Online business scams, particularly for persons looking to start a home-based business, seek to entrap the naive.

Spammers are very skilled because they have been at it for a while and they know what works.

However, the key to detecting any scam is, "does the financial reward sound too good to be true?" Internet Scams People basically are trusting.

Scam sites are usually very attractive and offer such great income potential, that it is difficult to believe such a deal really is part of the online business scams that await the unsuspecting.

Nine out of ten times, if an online business opportunity is legitimate, earning significant sums on the Internet occurs only after multiple months of hard work managing the site.

A new person just starting out rarely even comes close to these inflated revenue figures.

So a sound rule is, "don't get carried away with your enthusiasm for a perceived high earning site."

Making money fast is certainly one of the sure signs that online business scams are active.

Go slow, real slow.

How?

  1. The first common sense thing to do is to check to see if there is any contact information which should include at least an e-mail address.

A phone number and a business address would be a bonus.

Send a e-mail asking for information and see what you get back. What you're looking for is site/business credibility signs.

  2. See if the potential online business site has any logos from respected organizations like the Better Business Bureau or Trust.org.
  3. Go to "DomainTools.com" (previously called 'who is'), and check out the registration details. There is a wealth of information here.

Online Business Scams: Warnings

There really are no quick and easy ways to make money on the Internet, at least not legally.

In fact, home-based businesses and work-at-home scams rank very high on the list of top online business scams.

Frauds abound, particularly for those looking to start online businesses without experience.

So, here are some warning signs.

  • Make a boat load of money easy, with no experience.

    Wrong!

To make any money on the Internet requires hard diligent work. It requires focus and determination.

  • Online business scams often have several testimonials praising how well the business performed for them.

Only one thing is wrong here: there is no way to cross-check to see if these are legitimate. Maybe the site owner wrote them. Beware.

  • "Hot business opportunity" roars the website. Money-making details flow. But wait...you only have until the end of the today to take advantage of this discounted "deal."

    Sure.

We've all seen this come-on. It should be a "turn-off" for you.

A legitimate deal can wait overnight.

Any sound business that's for real, wants to make the sale to you even if there is a reasonable wait.

  • "We will give you a ready-made website, train you and provide a deep discount on your first merchandise order. This allows you to make 100% of your costs back the first week!"

    WOW!

I also want to sell you this 100 acre swamp for only $10.

There are two red flag items here.

First, no ready-made website will ever get found. Why? Hundreds of other people also have the same site. Note: Many of the major search engines won't list identical sites. So, you get no business.

Second, your first merchandise order is the spammers way of prying your money from you.

The old phrase, "Build it and they will come" simply does not work on the Internet.

They will say anything to get you money!

  • Online Business Scams: The ones that work most often

The one thing all these scams have in common: they get money from you up front and then they don't deliver...anything.

Even without knowing how each of these scams work, please, please run, and run fast from any site suggesting you can make a ton of money by participating in these activities:

    • Assemble toys, crafts, dolls from home. Make $$ by assembling 'each' piece.
    • Medical billing business from home. We set you up with local clients. (Guess who really gets 'set up?')
    • Start a typing at home business. Nope there is no business, so you're out-of-business and out-your-money!
    • Envelope stuffing from home is a 'classic' fraud. You pay money to the spammer. He then tells you to advertise on telephone poles to get business.
    • Online business scams get no better than the chain e-mail ones.

Don't break the chain. Send your $$ to the next person and your name goes to the bottom of the list where you'll make thousands.

    • Call this 900 telephone number to learn about these three "wonderfully profitable" home-based businesses. They keep you on the line as long as possible. These 900 # calls cost you $$, which is how the spammers make their money.
    • Send $9.95 to receive a list of companies in your area looking for work-at-home folks. Send only $8.00 more to get a national listing of such employers. Where do I sign up!
    • Other great online business scams deal with being a mystery shopper or a network marketer or neighborhood distributor of advertising fliers.

    What Professionals Recommend

As stated previously, making significant money online is hard work.

But people being people, many look for the easy way out.

The only thing they are out is their money and their emotional journey by seeking the easy road.

Professionals recommend avoiding lost hope and potential lost dollars by starting your own online home-based business.

The reality is, there are tens of thousands of online small businesses just laying around waiting for someone to develop one of them.

What's your passion? It's probably one of those just laying around business opportunities.

With SBI, they hold your hand to find the perfect one just for you.

Indeed, the first day of the rest of your life is waiting for you.

To be safe, the real lesson to be learned is to check out any online company to be sure they are legit and not an online business scam.
